Market with Parish Church
back to overview
The first documentary evidence of St Maximi’s Church dates back to 1247. In the 15th century it was converted into a late Gothic hall church. From the Grüner Markt lying to the south of the church, a narrow alleyway between the houses brings us to the market, with its Staupenbrunnen Fountain (1545) and Staupensäule Column. In the northeast corner of the market, in the Burgstrasse, is the Altes Rathaus or Old Town Hall.
